This is the Russian Bud. Brewed to a recipe dating from 1875, although the brewery only started making this in May 1999. The brewery is owned by S.A.B. The English translation is Golden Barrel - Classic. Best avoided. Review submitted by: Silk Tork |

Just had another bottle of this thick stuff. There is a good malt body which - to be fair - puts it above the Bud status. But I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The abv is 6.5% by the way.

Bochka Zolotaya has a rich amber color and a malty flavor. It is a light bodied beverage despite its distinctive mellow deep effect on the taste buds. It is a fairly unique brew in Russia differing from the common light pilsners which dominate the market. This beer is best enjoyed in a Russian pivo bar in the company of a beautiful woman. A dose of hops which bochka severely lacks would make this brew a world beater. To compare this beer to a generic pils budweiser is a joke. another Russian beer to try with slightly lighter body, hoppier and similar name is bochkarov which is very tasty. cheers
