LindemansFaro LambicABV 4.5% Vol 250 ml bottle Belgium Mid-price Flavour 4

|
This is a young Lambic beer, traditionally made from the outcastings of the mash tun, that has been sweetened by the addition of syrup or sugar in the secondary fermentation, allegedly to make it easier to drink. Apparently, this is often served unsweetened in Belgian cafés with sugar, so you can adjust it to your own taste. Nose is light, very fruity and slightly cheesey. Palate is overwhelmingly sweet, with the sourness of unripened fruit and a light bitterness in the back of the throat. Notes of sherbet, blackcurrants and lemons are also robustly present, but it is the sweetness that really destroys the palate. Aftertaste is sweet, with a citrus hint. If you like sweet beers, this is definitely worth a try; if not, steer clear. OBBD reviewer: Sparks |

Good, but I don't find it on the French market.

The sweetness was really just too much. My immediate thought upon tasting this was: Cider! It tasted exactly like one of the mass-produced bottled hard ciders (like Woodchuck or Vermont). Obviously, I got an extreme apple flavor; This would have been nicer without the sugar/syrup added.

Where can you find faro in the United States?

Whip me into a frenzy. With sugar on top. Gone in a flash. More!

My favorite beer, especially on tap, very hard to find internationally though. It is available in France (Palais de la Biere in Lyon has it on tap), not available in USA.
