St Peter'sFruit Beer (Elderberry)ABV 4.7% Vol 500 ml bottle UK Expensive Flavour 5

This is an old English fruit beer, flavoured with elderberries. As soon as the bottle is opened, one is hit with a powerful flowery, fruity smell. Closer inspection reveals notes of elderberries, sweet grapes (a bit like a dessert wine), aftershave and possibly perfumed talcum powder. In the mouth it is slightly better - bitter and hoppy, yet fruity with an elusive oak-leaf-and-pine-needle flavour. Aftertaste is of light fruit and bathroom products. An interesting effort that could have been a lot worse - not bad for a summer's day. However, there are better fruit beers - if you like that sort of thing, try a fruit lambic instead. By the mentioned thing it seems to me interesting. I would like to savor it.

It's great. The fruity nose and aroma are very refreshing. The cask-conditioned version was much better before St. Peter's increased the ABV by 1%.

A good summer ale with a delightful dry elderberry palate and aftertaste. Excessive personal hygiene may explain the Sparks review, however. [Seems unlikely from where I'm sitting :-) - Ed]

I don't know, I never drank it.
