This is described on the bottle as an authentic IPA. I can believe it too - quite hoppy, very bitter and strong stuff. It's too much though (taste I mean, not price). It's great to taste as an experiment in trying styles, but you'd want to share the bottle with someone. Review submitted by: Dave Morton |

Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. Deep golden colour. Pleasant hoppy aroma (my wild guess would have been Cascade and Chinook, but apparently it’s just "pound upon pound of Fuggles & Goldings", so what do I know - it smells good anyway). Refreshing hoppy flavour, reasonably well balanced. Not the most bitter IPA around, but bitter enough for me. Nice. Rating 7.5-8.

What a great beer! It reminds me of sierra nevadas celebration ale but abit smoother.
Good stuff

Full of taste and aroma without being over powering. Just the right amount of hop coming through. Drink it!

Not impressed. I like hops and this had plenty of them, but the beer was just plain bitter. There was no flowery aroma at all like in Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Goose Island IPA. I saw an article once where the head brewer/owner was touting about American IPA's and comparing his own IPA to them, but this beer is nothing like the American one, just a pale imitation taste-wise.
Nice colour and head though

To be honest i never saw the "extreme hoppiness" of this beer. Very nice but still quite mellow. Enjoyed a couple of bottles and that was plently.

This is one of the best IPAs I have tried and the only good one I have found since moving to the UK. I thought I would have a an abundance of these beers to choose from over here but this is the only genuine IPA I have found. Nice one Sainsbury.

This is the beer that got me liking beer in the first place, and everything else I try will always be compared to this. I find a good depth of flavour, but nothing overpowering. The price is staggeringly cheap - you can't go wrong!
