Slightly weaker and blander than the bottled version, Old Brewery Pale Ale. Otherwise fairly similar. Quite hoppy, yet perhaps a little fizzy.

UMIST Rag Beer Monster

Andy, Nothing can be worse than Websters. Sam Smiths is good Yorkshire beer. And the price is right!
Norman Hirst

Sparks is used to drinking rubbish so when he tried Sam Smiths, it had 'proper taste' and he could not relate to it,......... sad person.
John B, Halifax & York

Great beer, but I can't find it down south!
Mark

james

Must be on of the best beers in the country and at £1.29 in some places!
John Chisholm

It would be nice if i could find somewhere that sells it!! Do they still do the original stuff in 2litre plastic bottles, like in the good old days?
Alan, South Birmingham

I have just returned from a great tour of Sam Smiths pubs in London. Worth the travelling to get draught! A good pint to sup with friends.
Ian, Swindon

Only £1.14 in a club near us
Phil (Yorkshire)

How can I get it in the States? i had it in London and no one believes me that it exists.

Brilliant pint @ £1.21 in the Oak Tree @ Catterick Village and the Bay Horse @ Tunstall-both north yorkshire-also try sovereign @£1.24 a pint

I Look at Phil in Yorkshire and envy him, just did the brewery trip and bought a case of Nut Brown Ale from the local deli next door to the brewery, £23 it cost for 12. I admit some of the management methods are spot on sticking to tradition and all, but surely they want to market the products they make, come on gents get more proactive and sell sell sell.

USed to be available by hand pump at anchor tap-london bridge - now not. Typical.

I just got back from the UK and searched for this particular beer (had it in westminster 10 yrs ago) but I couldn't find it. IT was half the reason I went back.

now serving handpull old brewery at the oak tree catterick village, absolutely gorgeous creamy smooth pint
glynn jackson

Get this handpulled on form and you are talking proper beer, for me the best standard bitter by miles in my area. west yorks.

Sampled cask conditioned ("drawn from an oak cask") at The Golden Ball, Scarborough (a Samuel Smith’s pub). Deep golden colour, creamy head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops. Tolerable hops in the flavour - smooth and easy drinking. Okay. Score: 6.5 - 7.
Sigmund

The cheapest and possibly most boring cask beer in England. However, apparently it doesn't travel - something to do with traditional methods and wooden casks, in which case I'd be happy to try it closer to home. Hopefully there'd be more truth in that than in the Guinness myth!!!
Damo
