This strong pale BCA from Achouffe pours a pleasing pale gold colour, with a white, fine-bubbled head. Nose is of vanilla, citrus fruit (mandarin and Seville oranges), herbs and spices. In the mouth it is quite sparkly but not overly lively. It is bitter-sweet, with the yeast emphasising the bitterness - there is a sort of lemon-marmalade bitterness, with a sharp but gentle citrusy edge. It is a little like a golden ale although it does not taste as strong - or perhaps like a saison. A slightly burnt malt flavour, honey and even a hint of Marmite appear in the finish, leading to a faintly marmaladey aftertaste that lingers just long enough... This is a warming beer with more strength than the taste would suggest. Worth buying, though perhaps not different enough to be worth a special trip to Belgium. OBBD reviewer: Sparks |

I'm not sure, but if I remember well, Kwelchouffe is a product of Achouffe
Brewery, specially made for exportation (a lot of Achouffe beers are sold
in the Netherlands) and unavailable in Belgium.
Other Achouffe products are very interesting (Chouffe de Printemps or Mac Chouffe, specially), but you can't find Kwelchouffe here.

This is a very, very nice beer. I prefer it over the 'normal' Chouffe, and that says a lot!

I am drinking achouffe beers over the last 4 years now and since I moved to Israel I cannot find my favorite Kwelchouffe anymore, because only Mc chouffe Big chouffe and La chouffe and Chouffe on Ice are imported here.I really miss kwelchouffe
