I'm not a fan of blond ales, but an opportunity to try a beer from Latvia is not one to miss. I am glad I tried this because it is a well balanced blond with a warming alcohol content that never dominates. The malt body is firm with a gentle nod toward sweetness, and the hops are aromatically bitter with a mild citric zing. Mmmm. This is a very tasty blond! Strongly recommended.

It's from Latvia - really tasty:<

Malts dominate leaving a pleasant aftertaste. The label shows that this beer has won a few medals in the past and I could see why. Very nice appearance with a slightly toasted taste. Quite a strong gravity which you are quite aware of as soon as you start drinking. Recommended.

This beer and Shopsko (from Macadonia) are the two finest beers in the world.

Very pleasant beer with a hint of wild flowers, a bit buttery, aftertaste is just great. Recommended. Give it a 7.5, just like the first reviewer

Well... In Latvia its popularity is really decreasing. We have a lot of beers better than this one...

Paldies Aldaris...fantastic beer.

In Latvia, Aldaris brewery (which was recently taken over) is considered to produce commercial beers that are easy to drink, but not particularly complex or refined. I agree, and would recommend anyone interested in tasting Latvian beers try and source beers from other breweries (Bauskas, Piebalgas, Uzavas) In Latvia, the best beers are considered to come from the small Uzavas brewery, which are difficult to come by even in the capital Riga, but certainly live up to their reputation.

My notes from last year say "thin, almost tasteless and gassy. A no star beer!

On my last visit to Latvia I sampled this lager on the advice of my wife. It's a really tasty easy to drink beer. The flavour is clean with a subtle weight adding to the experience. Highly recommended

Love that Zelta! Soooo sad can no longer obtain in Wisconsin. I am such a fan of Aldaris Zelta that I would like to make a homebrew with similar flavor profile. Any ideas on flavoring agents most appreciated!

i'm 3/4'rds latvian by blood so i'm obviously biased, but i DO love this beer.

On tap in Riga. Golden colour, moderate head. Moderate pilsener aroma. Typical pilsener flavour, maybe slightly more malty than the bulk of them, with a certain hoppy bitterness. And SilkTork: this is not a blonde ale, it's a pale lager! Score: 5
