Traditionally, a bock is a strong, dark lager from southern Germany, designed for export - the final fermentation occurs in the bottle during transit. However, Uniaio Super Bock is a pale Portuguese lager that only travels well because it's so awful to start with. For such a prolific gold medal winner, this beer is incredibly shite. I drank gallons of it in Portugal, and its not half bad. It is long lasting beer that you can drink
all night. With the strong flavour you didn't feel the need to drink fast, as the flavour lingered.
Must admit San Miguel was much fresher and went down at twice the rate. I would like to try this beer in my home climate-as anything cold and wet is drinkable when the temperature is 109.

It is not the best beer in Portugal (that honour goes to its southern Unicer stablemate Cristal), but it is streets ahead of the gassy tasteless Heinekens and Carlings of this world. Super Bock is enjoyed best ice cold, in a 20cl "imperial" draft measure as a small thirstquencher. In the UK it is available through many branches of Oddbins.

I can't believe what I'm reading.. Sparks, you are spot on mate, this stuff reminds me of Special Brew etc in that it tastes artificially strong. Personal taste is one thing but the only way to make this taste good is to drink a case of it. I can only assume that many of the above reviewers were suffering from heatstroke. Super Bock is chemically offensive. For a really nice Portuguese pils, try Zarco.

4 years ago,I've travel around Europe, and I probably tasted about 30 different brands of beer. It's amazing the shit that people drink and called it beer. For me the ranking in Europe is this:
1 Super Bock (I'm Portuguese), 2 Mahou (esp), 3 Heineken (ned), 4 Sagres (por), 5 Nastro Azzuro (ita), 6 Dreher (ita), 7 Leeuw (ned), 8 Hellas (gre), 9 Tuborg (??), 10 Cristal (por). The worst Meteor & Kronenbourg (fra). SB is best consummed in a 0,56cl pint.

I really, REALLY enjoyed plenty of ice cold Superbock while I was in Lisbon earlier this year. FYI - it's available in Nando's restaurants in this country but they charge £2.50 a bottle. A bit more than €2.50 for 6 in the Portuguese supermarkets!

Having spent my last 6 summer hols in the Algarve I wouldn't imagine drinking anything else. This summer we found it 'on special' at 6.49 euros for 24 of 330ml bottles. Admitedley it does taste poor if served warm thats why we fill the fridge with it. It is also very good on draught (a good draught pint can be found at the Rovers Return near the Montechero Hotel - near Alberfuria)

Super Bock is best drank very very cold and in small 20cl glasses. It is without a doubt one of the best beers in the whole world. Much better draft then bottle, and not even close as good from a can. Try it and be your own judge.

SuperBock was great. Drank loads in Tropicool, Praia de Rocha and bought lots of wooden giraffes off the guys on the beach. All because I was Super Bocked. My house is like a miniature wooden zoo!

Just spent two weeks in Portugal sampling the local brews. To me, Super Bock was perfectly drinkable. I'm not really a big fan of fizzy yellow stuff, but this seems to belong somewhere in the mid-field. As we were there in February, I wasn't suffering from heat-stroke as suggested by El Tigre del Norte. I'll give it 5.0 for flavour.

I often disagree with the reviewer, but not this time! It's only to be drunk if you MUST have a beer. If I ever return to Portugal, and as a Beer drinker, I'll stick to red wine thanks. Superbock is gassy and tasteless only redemied by its strenght. If you want the Superbock experience...wait for a hot day in England and drink british suppermarket lager!

I first enjoyed Super Bock on our honeymoon in Portugal in '96, where, if memory serves, we got it from vending machines. Back here in New Jersey, it has recently turned up as a regular at our local beer distributor, to my surprise and great pleasure. This beer is light, full-flavored and strong all at once. Just plain great.

When I arrived on the campsite in Lisbon for the euros we tried the local tipple SUPER BOCK. After a few hours of drinking this smooth tasting beer for pennies me and my friend looked at the alcohol content which to our surprise read 3.6%. We studied the can for some time in disbelief. Had we become lightweights overnight? No we were just Bock-eyed!. Quality! still trying to find the stuff in Northampton.

Nothing like a session 'on the Bock'. I had the pleasure of going over to Porto with 3 mates for the Euro 2004.We hit the Ribiera and stumbled across SuperBock, once supped there was no looking back. This is well and truly legendario! Best served on draught and ice cold and drank out of 75cl measures.......refreshing with a real punch. Forget your wife beater, SuperBock beats the lot!!! The only problem is we cannot find it in the UK.........anybody know where we can buy it??

Super bock is a superb beer. Its stronger than Stella and doesn't give you a hangover. We discovered it in 2003 and my mates liked it so much they got their local landlord to get it in the pub (bottled). Now the best selling beer by far (Thats the Anchor in upton-upon-severn, Worcestershire by the way :) You can buy it in OddBins, Nandos restaurants, and now ASDA! Unfortunatley not for 27p a bottle like in Portugal though. Is there ANYWHERE in the UK that sells this stuff on tap?

330ml bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget). ABV is 5.6%. Pale golden colour with fluffy white head that doesn’t last very long, some lacing. Grassy sweet aroma with notes of maize/corn and molasses, hints of vomit. Bland flavour, typical industrial adjunct lager, some maize sweetness, low bitterness. I think even Sagres tasted fresher than this one. Not a beer I’ll buy again. If I go to Portugal I’ll probably stick to vinho verde.

This beer has been incredibly underrated! Sparks! i love its inoffensive, refreshingly clean, almost nutty flavour and fine, mouthfeely bubbles. i recommend drinking it beside the river Douro outside one of the riverside's many cafes whilst admiring the milieu of luminescent port logos in the distance. Great stuff.

Can't understand how the reviewer could rate this beer so low, i've tasted many diferent beers, and i francly put super bock way above some most expensive, non-lagger ones.
