From Altenburg in Thuringia in the eastern part of Germany this beer in its attractive swing top bottle is superb. Opens with a wonderful hoppy aroma. The beer is pale lemon/gold in colour and pours with a lasting white head. Beer is aromatic and herby with very good hop bite. Carbonation is just right and beer has excellent mouthfeel, increasing bitterness as you move through it and herbal, flowery hop notes throughout. Finish is clean, dry, perfumy and hoppy.
Conclusion: A wonderful, complex and moreish beer. Not a pils but broadly in the style. Thuringia seems to specialise in these intensely hoppy and complex beers. Marvellous!
