Affligem Blond is a nice beer but nothing special, quite average if you ask me, if you like this type of beer there are better choices (but also worse choices). In the Netherlands the availability is growing, also because Affligem is doing a lot of advertising. And with showing up on the shelves of major supermarkets prices will drop and it will become more value for money.

I like this beer a lot. Very refreshing, with a little kick. Not as refreshing as a Hoegaarden, but now we're talking apples and oranges.

I consider this one of the best-balanced beers I've ever had. It's very understated - not incredibly complex, come to that - but it achieves a near-perfect balance of fruity, bitter hops and noticably roasted malt with a good alcohol kick. One of my favourite beers - not to impress with or session with, but as a perfect reminder of the basics of good brewing.

Draught in Nice, France. Listed simply as "Affligem" on the menu, but I presume it was the Blond. Served in appropriate glass. Golden colour, low head, moderate carbonation. Very pleasant and spicy aroma and flavour, notes of oak and yeast too. Good beer! 8/10
