Nice dark amber coloured beer, small head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of butterscotch/toffee. Quite a sweet Alt... but near the end tastes a lot like cold tea... not a bad beer at all. Review submitted by: Kevin Reid |

Give it 7. Original Gravity: 1.054, ABW 4.0%, ABV 5.0%, Bitterness: 18 IBU, Color 22 SRM.
The water tastes indeed as stated on their website(http://www.alaskanbeer.com/amber.html) -- 'Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field.' (Thirsty skiers who melt alpine snow in their mouths know the taste!) Juneau, the capital, is on the southern panhandle, with an Oceanic climate. Amber is richly malted and not overhopped (Yakima Valley & Czech Saaz). Veneta, Oregon, USA

I have been looking for a good amber ale, and quite honestly was taken by suprise by this one. Excellent full flavor. a bit sweet, great with fish.

I came across this beer whilst holidaying in Alaska. It is one of the nicest amber ales I have tasted certainly a good rival for some of our home-grown ales in the UK.

I was in Alaska last year and it really is an amazing place and this beer topped a spectacular holiday. Where can i buy it in the UK?

A very nice beer. Malty, good amber color, not much of a head, nor spectacular lacing...but definitely not over-carbonated (for the likes of me I cannot understand why many American beer drinkers want strong carbonation--I guess it has to do with their growing up with soda). Unsure if the ABV above is correct. On the first drink a person can definitely identify its American taste...but then it resembles a UK/Scottish ale, as it should; however, German Altbier has a bit of a distinct taste that this doesn't quite have...but almost. I would say try it a few times and enjoy. I am not a fan of American copies of European styles, but find this beer drinkable, even session-able, unlike most American beer these days. Cheers!
