Chang

Beer Chang

ABV % • Vol 330 ml • bottle • Thailand • Cheap • Flavour 6
Other beers from Chang
Other beers from Thailand

Purchased in Thailand, the lack of information in English on the label of this beer means that we are unsure of the brewery name. 'Chang' means 'Elephant', hence the pictures on the label, but this beer shouldn't be confused with the much stronger and darker Carlsberg Elephant Beer (we'd guess the strength of Chang at about 5%). It pours with a bubbly head that shrinks rapidly. Nose is of grassy hops, with a touch of light malt, along with a light lemony note. It has a vegetal, tinny hop character in the mouth, and it is quite bitter but nevertheless fairly thin. A light caramel note is present in the finish, which leaves a cloying aftertaste. It's actually not too bad - well-hopped and refreshing, with enough balance in the finish to make up for the lightness of the body.

Not too expensive. Anyway, its taste should be improved by adding more degree of alcohol.
Alcoholic

The import version of this beer is 6.4%. Alledgedly the actual version sold in Thailand does not have a set strength and it varies from 5-8% though I'm not certain of this.
Tony

Stronger, smoother and less bitter than Singha.
Wardy

I drink Chang Beer and it kicks any other beer's ass that you have drunk. And people have chanted my name over the Internet!
Tony Bullitt

Where can I get Chang in the UK?
Paul

Chang's strength in Thailand is 7%. It is potent stuff though cheaper than its main rival Singha.
Aaron Whan

Beer Chang is the best beer,I drank it for the whole time I was on holiday in Thailand.
David, Dublin Ireland.

This is our favorite beer in the world! Sitting on the beach in Southern Thailand with an icy cold Beer Chang yai...mmmm

Beer Chang is a very tasty, strong and fresh lager beer. After drinking Beer Chang for a few weeks my normal favourite beer, Heineken or Amstel, these beers taste less.
jacco

I have never tasted a better beer in my whole life! Smooth and full bodied. Chang goes well with Asian food and can be drunk everywhere.

As I am from Germany I know good beers and this is one of the best beers I've ever drunk. And during my stay in Thailand I was several times drunk. Unfortunately I haven't found one in Germany.

Just got back from Thailand and enjoyed Chang - brought a few bottles back, but to echo other requests above - if anyone knows where to get it in the UK please let me know at chris@inseine.com
Chris

Beer chang is 6.2%. I was suprised by this as I am sure you are. Does anyone know where to acquire this stuff in the UK as it tastes great?! (moistworm@btinternet.com)
Mark Dowle

Chang varies in strength. A few bottles one night might get you mildly pissed. The same quantity another night might take the roof off your head! Approach with caution. Even so, a cold Chang on a humid Bangkok night is not to be sniffed at.
Finbarr Murphy, Dublin.

I tasted many beers before in Thailand, like Kloster, Amarit, beer Sing, Singha Gold and many others and THEN there was Beer Chang and it's the best they have, only in the beginning I "think" it was stronger.
Joske Shake

Please tell me where I can get Beer Chang from in the UK, my 4 brothers and my dad had 3 bottles of this before going to Legs 11 in Birmingham and it was quality!!! graemec@mancunia.co.uk

Just come back from Thailand I've been living on chang for three weeks. Can anyone help me with my withdrawal symptoms and let me know if there is anywhere that I can buy Chang in the UK. alldayday@hotmail.com
ANDY

Its full of all kind of noxious stuff apart from alcohol thus leaving you with a mighty radioactive hangover. Better than Singha (obviously), but on balance still totally shite. Hallo Heineken.
beer fuhrer

In fact Chang like Shinga Thai beers are about 8% proof. This is because much of Thailand suffers from the lack of refrigeration, so the Thai way of drinking beer is to half fill a glass with ice over which the beer poured. This cools the drink and waters it down to a more normal strength.
Fred Flintstone

Chang is the shit. Best beer in the world and I'm sure you'll all agree with me. Bring Chang to the UK - who's with me!
pam

Do the native Asians brew this beer for ritual consumption with tree parts from sandalwood, deodara cedar, or juniper? My only source for this idea is a hunch that the Asian stupa is a recipe in stone for a sacramental drink. Are such monuments as Borobudur in Java an enormous advertisement for a food that was essential in building and orienting the temple? Please reply to cherelle9@yahoo.com
Dennis Delfino

Big Chang and Sang Som - this is why I was put on this planet - same old question as the rest - where can I buy it in the UK? If anyone knows e-mail me at moandclaud@hotmail.com

Cor 'ukin hell mate!!! wot a luvley beer. Got well razzed on it's hoppy gush back while over here in Bkk Thailand. 10/10, bring me more mental juice.
JustMoore Blabber

Beer Chang is actually 6% ABV and is most often drank with ice cubes. As is the custom with beer drinking in Thailand (hot weather and inconsistent refridgeration consideration). While most beers become thin, watery and mainly disgusting when consumed on the rocks, Beer Chang actually becomes better, less bitter and harsh. The ice also provides the drinker with just enough H2O intake to help lessen the often nasty hangovers (Changover) that comes with excessive consumption. Beer Chang, on ice, the beer of Elephants???
Bobee McLean

Whilst on holiday in Thailand recently me and a few mates discovered Beer Chang..... very niiiice, worth going back there just for the beer alone- does anyone know where you can get this in the U.K????

Your information is incorrect. Chang is brewed by Carlsberg and Elephant Beer as sold in the UK is a European cousin of the product. I’ve bought it here in New Zealand, it’s available in many Thai restaurants, but I’m afraid it doesn’t travel well. When served ice cold in Thailand though I can't get enough.

Chang is the better of the two main brews from Thailand - the other being Singha. But has anyone tried Leo, it's only available in 500ml bottles but is just as good if not better than the other two.
Rob

Full of praise and longing for Beer Chang. The cheapest, strongest (7%), and yet tastiest beer in the kingdom. Yes, it's brewed by Carlsberg, although the Carlsberg European spin-off - 'Elephant Beer', doesn't come close. Best place to pick up in UK is in Thai restaurants, or (cheaper) in Thai/Chinese supermarkets (many in London).

Elephant beer. Beer Chang is my most favourite beer ever. It is brewed by Carlsberg and Chang is actually Thai for elephant. So there is a connection! There has been many a time I have waltzed into a bar and asked for a large elephant!
It is brewed under Carlsberg's supervision. Chang Beer was conceived through a joint venture between the TCC Group and Carlsberg.
KAZ

Chang is 6.4% alcohol in fact! Being as it is about all I drink over here in Thailand I should know!!!
Milky

I am still looking for Beer Chang in The UK. Can anyone help!!!!!
Herbie

Chang like all Thai domestically brewed beers contains Formaline, a mixture of Formaldehyde and Glycerine which actually makes buzzed rather than pissed. You can remove it by tipping the chang upside down into a glass of water, holding the neck below the rim. Then watch as the Formaline sinks out into the water, it looks awful and in fact is. What you are left with a cleaner tasting Chang, the one that won awards abroad because Formaline is not put into the stuff they export to Australia etc, it's illegal. Those professing undying love for this beer, needed to know that. I like it, but in moderation, it makes a mighty hangover.

Chang is 7.2% - they sell it in cans in Cambodia. It is a disgusting tasting beer; people only pretend to like it because they think it's exotic - like a Thai coming to London and liking Special Brew!!

This beer rocks, not only at the fullmoon party! :) If u go to Thailand this beer is the best choice. Singha is more like american beer, but chang, u can compare to german stuff

To update your info, Beer Chang is brewed and bottled in Thailand by Carlsburg. Beer Chang's label now also states an alcohol content of 6.4%. I rate it as the best beer in Thailand. Good promotion here too - drink 3 bottles get the 4th free. Living and loving the life mate. Cheers.

I was in Thailand last year. They didn't used to be able to guarantee the strength of the local stuff. Apparantly the Thai wording on the label says 'a minimum of 6.4%' - hence the 'Chang Rule' - don't know how strong it is, but 3 will always get you mashed. Still can't find it retailing in England (apart from £4 small bottles in my local restaurant), but I too picked up a couple of cases of 330mls in Tesco in Calais, France! I miss those 640ml bottles!
Jono

Where can I buy Chang beer in Australia? I am an Oriental shop owner and a customer has requested that I find it.
Colin Fitzgerald

It's 6.4%, I'm drinking one now and it says it quite clearly. Singha is 6% but doesn't taste nearly as good. I actually prefer the Heinenken which is the export 5% stuff out here, but at twice the price, so it's Change every time for me.
Seymour Chimps

I like Beer Chang too, but I think it's more than 5% alcohol. Closer to 8% I would guess. Most bars in Thailand won't serve this beer because guests become drunk and then leave. That means less cash for the bar keepers....
Mr. Jan Taftoy

Chang beer is brewed by Carlsberg who sponsor Liverpool FC. Thai PM wants to buy 25% stake in Liverpool. This will mean Beer Chang on Liverpool's shirts. I'm not kidding. There's a draught beer Chang out here in Thailand now which is much smoother than the bottled stuff.
Matt

Yes all you beer Chang lovers, it is the only beer to drink whilst in Thailand (or if you can find abroad!)

Alright fellow chang lovers, This web page is as well recieved as free blow job in the park. I used to live in thailand for a year. Chang's alcoholic content varies from 5.9 % to 7.9 % dependant upon which brewary produced it. I live in Glasgow and if anyone knows anywhere it can be purchased up north then please let us northern hedonists know. Good luck in your quest for the holy nectar fellow travellers
Charlie 'Snosberry' Bucket

Sittin here in BKK drinkin Chang, which is the premier CHEAP beer at 100 baht/3 bottles. After readin all this I read the label properly for the first time. It's 6.4% (no miniumum), brewed by Beer Thip Co Ltd in Ayutthaya (not Bangkok but close... about 50km). The mastermind behind this brew is a tycoon name of Charoen Siriwatanaphakdi, and he used the big profits from Chang to buy TV rights to the last World Cup and made himself a lot of friends by taking out the interstitial ads. but I digress.. The relationship with Carlsberg is on the rocks I hear. Charoen (Sang Som Mekong and other horrible Thai whisky meister) got his break in the beer bizness by selling Carlsberg. Then leveraged the relationship to create Chang, which he bundled with the Mekong (whiskey) to Thai shops and thus killed heretofore dominant Singha (not so nice beer anyway, I for one was glad). And after Chang became the biz., wanted better terms from Carlsberg. I'm ignorant here but check the relationship with Elephant beer, if Carlserg stopped importing that'd correspond with Charoen wanting to go his own way. anyway the rest of the label indicates your driving abilities may be reduced and under-18s cannot buy and should not drink. quite right too cheers all
Martin

i love this stuff, was in thailand for 4 months 6.4% all the way, cheap too. Please fly to the uk chang

Chang are now the sponsors of Everton in the Premier League, so they might be more readily available in the UK.
Nevin

While I was in Thailand for the 2nd time, I had the great fortune to find out that Ayutthaya also brewed a beer called Chang. I tried it and liked it also, the only Beer Chang offered was at 6.4% as noted on the label. While eating at many small out of the way places the spicier the food the more you drink. After a good Tom Yam Goong, not the tourist crap that is, or any other spicy dish for that matter, Beer Chang goes down much smoother and eases the pallette for enjoying more of the exquiste food in the country. While I have seen many Thai's seem to prefer Singha or Heineken over Chang, I was the opposite(not being Thai and liking Chang), I liked both very much but preferred Beer Chang overall, by a small margin!
Chris

I drank Chang in Thailand. It's lovely. 6.4% too! 3 bottles and you sure know about it...
Mike

Beer Chang! Gotta love it, Hard to find in the US but I'm already planning to return to Thailand, this time I'll bring some back with me!

Good beer to get drunk on cheaply (if you are in Thailand) so long as you don't mind that the flavour is reminiscent of the scent of wet dog. I prefer Beer Singha.

its 6.4 % and it needs to be cold!
Leo

it is actually 6.5% in Thailand and it is an awesome drink. They sold chang in maylasia as well but it didn't taste as good, then we realised it was a weaker version at 5%. hope they bring the original to the uk soon!!!!!
dodge

It's a shame Chang Beer is associating its self with Everton FC. Great beer - crap football team! Darren Rogers from Liverpool is a prat! What was the score when Arsenal came to Everton?? There will only be one premiership team in Liverpool soon & they don't wear blue shirts! Bye bye Rooney!!
BANGKOKBERTIE

Carlsberg Malaysia's website has this entry:

Chang Beer

The latest addition to the brewery's range of high quality beers, Chang Beer is our greatest challenge to-date. That's because even in today's competitive market condition, together with our partner Beer Thai Company Limited in Bangkok, we are successful in giving beer drinkers a new taste at better value. In Malaysia, Chang Beer is brewed full-bodied with a little more bite, yet tastes distinctively smooth and uniquely refreshing.

Chang Beer is great. I completely fell in love with it. But in Germany it is nearly impossible to get those big 0,66 bottles with an alchol content of more than 4,9%. I´m really sad because it also doesn´t taste the same like in Thailand. Does anybody know where can I buy those original bottles around Hamburg (Germany)?
Zitze

Just got a 24 bottle crate of this amazing stuff. Only 5% but has the same great taste. It was from a chinese supermarket on Leith main street (Edinburgh). About £1 a bottle & unfortunately the small bottles! I guess we will be seeing more of it now that Everton sponsor!

Chang beer rocks my world, now i miss those big changs, rolling beaches......and joints. Come on the chang!! 30bt was the cheapest i found!
Yoda

Chang beer is between 5.0-8.0% depending how remote the area is, it only tends to be 8.0% out in the sticks as they have no refrigeration and pour it over ice so that the strength comes down to the average 5-6%, where Singha is 6.0% as standard or 4.8% for Gold.
ling baa

Chang beer can be bought in the chinese supermarket in Liverpool near China town
stephen reilly

For those of you who like to know where to get beer chang in your country, then try this email: info@beerthai.com . this is the direct email address of Beer Chang Brewery. I think they can give you some hints where to get beer chang in your country. good luck
a Thai person

Chang beer, the ones which are specially for importing to the UK is 5.0 percent. Chang Beer, the ones which are for sale only in Thailand It is 6.4 percent. You can tell the difference between the two due to the lack of English/Thai on the bottle. Its a great beer and when having a few bottles of this stuff It makes other beers taste normal.
Marc

chang beer is the greatest beer in the world, just the smell and taste can bring back memories of that paradise that is thailand. also it is 6.5% not 5 or 7. it can b bort in the chinese supermarket in newcastle.
stevie

Chang is by far the greatest strong beer i have ever drank, my mates say that im not a REAL man because i dont drink stella artois because i cant hack the strength, well thats bullshit because in my opinion the taste is too bitter, people who drink that are the sort that smoke marlboro lights they are posers. When in thailand this beer changed my opinion of stronger beers as the taste was perfect for me it was so smooth and refreshing and still 6.4%, which in the temperatures out there are perfect for chillin on the beach or partyin all night, then theres the priced perfect for the budget traveller. A bit dissappointed to here that carlsberg have become involved in Changs production, bet that'll mean we get another great bland tasting beer, BRING ON GLOBALISATION!!!!!!!
Chris Ingram

Just got back from Samui and have the Chang Shakes....I need Chang now...now...now. Also try mixing it with Thai Whiskey for that special occassion !!!!!
Doctor Porridge

As Man Utd have Rooney now, can we have Chang as our sponsor as well???????

Anyone know where I can get Chang in the US? Or can you ship the Chang to me from the UK or thailand. I just got back from Railay Beach and am going through withdrawls. alicai84@yahoo.com
alicia

I'm Thai,Chang is my favourite beer.In Thailand it's only 35Baht per 330ml bottle,and 100Baht per 3bottle.It's shit.and Chang T-Shirt in Thailand it's only 99Baht.
Trai Pornphra Sukanthakul

The alcohol content of this beer is 7 % in bottle form and 5% in can form. However on discussion with many Thai locals and other western travellers it came to my attention that Beer Chang has many chemicals in it, rumor has it that embalming fluid and other strong unhealthy chemicals are used.
Peter Caldwell

Chang is the best thai beer. Singha, Leo and the rest is for ladies and children.
Chang

In Thailand, come 5.00 pm, it was chang time every day whilst watching the sunset. It set us up for a great evening every time! God bless you Chang
MarkyMark MissingPhuket

you can get Chang in the Costcutter in Leamington Spa. Only 50p a can. Very good stuff.
teethforbrains

Hoo Heng chinese supermarket in Brimsdown, North London sells it. A bit more expensive than in Thailand however.
Alan South, beer drinker

The locally available bottled and draught Chang is 6% abv, whereas the exported version is only (?) 5%.
Alan South, beer drinker

This beer is fairly tasty but delivers the most lethal hangovers imaginable. I am unconvinced of the purity of the brewing ingredients here!! The Malaysian variety is far safer than the Thai original!
Martin, traveller and beer drinker

Oooh I miss pounding down Chang, feelin that unmistakable hAZe and feeling like prey while hearing cat-calls after each step past a beer garden! Missing the Thai-experience back in dreary Manhattan...
Tommychang

You guess at 5%, its much stronger, i recently spent a few weeks in Thailand and drank lots of Chang, its lovely, but i can tell you the actual strength is 6.4% !!!!!!!!!!!
James

How may I contact Chang Beer and set up a distribution in Canada?

Chang beer turned me into an alcoholic while I was visiting Thailand. You can see the brewery if you take a van from Bangkok to Kanchanburi. Beer chang noong quat kabong krup!

Chang and Sang Som is thr shit!!

Just returned from Thailand with fond memories of the Chang beer. It is not "really" Thai since it is the low cost version of Carlsberg (brewed by them too) - Besides from that it's a brilliant beer
Mik, Luxembourg

original chang beer is about 6.4% anything eslse is not worth drinking completely different taste
anon

The domestic chang is at 6,4%
Chris

Look in any Chinese supermarket in the UK - they should sell it.

This has to be the shittest beer i have ever tasted. Hence the elephant on the label - made from its piss.
Joey

Anyone wanting a Chang t-shirt need only go to evertonfc.com. Not only do you get the Chang advert but you get a great Royal Blue shirt with and Everton badge on it. What's more, as the season is now over, you can get it for only a tenner!

Chang & Singha are both available from www.onlyfinebeer.co.uk
Tim Fletcher

Chang for Thai domestic market is at 6.4% but for exporting is only 5% of alchohol.
Tum

This beer has the feel and taste of a nice refreshing lite 4 to 5% brew. It is infact, which is why everyone falls over on it 6.5% alcohol.
Ollie Coles

Who cares what it tastes like. I know a bar in Bangkok where you can drink as many bottles of this stuff as your belly can take. The price .. a staggering 100 THB during its 4 hour happy hour!(4-8pm)
Thai Beer Monster

I'm drinking a Singha but I want a Chang
Sam Corah

The Chang available in the UK is NOT the same as in Thailand. Over here its 5% ABV and the orininal Chang is 7% ABV. Don't be fooled into buying one in the UK. Try a Singha instead.
Singha is the Best Thai Beer

The fact is that Singha used to be NO1 beer in Thailand for several decades before the introduction of Chang Beer. And another fact is that Singha used to be a very expensive brand in the kingdom until Chang came out in a very reasonable price.
Singha, owned by an elite family, almost lost all its margin on the Thai market. a couple of years ago. Now in 2005, Singha is still selling at prices some 20-25% more expensive than those of Chang Beer- swallowing a market slide.
The Elephant now conquers 60% of the local beer market. Drink it if you find it satisfactory. PLS help Singha also. Singha, or Lion, is also a great beer.
Woody

EVERTON CHANG bllaaaaaaa!!!
the chang man

I think from word of mouth this beer will become available mainstream in uk very soon, but in the meantime it can be bought here www.foreignbeerimports.co.uk. I bought a 24pack for about 25quid
changfan

Segregated Team leaders bouncing around a star-studded hammock. That's how id describe this jungle juice !! Yummy.. They ship the toned down 5% tut to the UK tho' sniff..
Moistworm

The abv of Chang in Thailand, according to the bottle I am holding, is 6.4 percent. Thailand may be alone in the world in taxing beer NOT on alcohol content, but on price. Chang is stacked high and sold dirt cheap. It's the workers' brew. Interlopers Heineken, Asahi, and Carlsberg before it departed in a row with Chang, are all 5 percent "premium" beers, sold at twice Chang's price.
Graham Lees

this really is probably the best lager in the world
big dunk

I have drunk this beer every night ever since its arrival in Thailand in 1992 and I would never drink any other beer now. I am drinking it as I am writing this.
Ian Reed

To Chang fans in the UK, you'll all be pleased to know that Chang is now available in large Tesco stores in and around Liverpool, and it is imported from Thailand.
H

I lived in thailand for 18 months many a drunken night was had on chang any distributor in australia
Les

I am living in Thailand & Beer Chang really is the best, over ice, 3 x 660cl bottles in most places for 100baht,= £1.42, beat that for value
Jimmy Mac

Everyone keeps asking where to get this beer in the UK. Well last night I got it from Tescos, only in single bottles mind, but yeah, I bought the entire stocks worth.
Tom

330ml bottles, 24 crate, 5% vol (uk import strength) not 6.4% + as in thailand avaliable from both chinese supermarkets in MANCHESTER for around £16 - £18. brings back travelling memories!!!
matt

www.wingyipstore.co.uk 93p a bottle

By far the best beer in Thailand very strong and tasty!
Dave S

i love chang!!! love it, love it, love it! couldn't beat it with a big stick!
louise

after speaking to the locals, and drinking this stuff for 2 weeks, it varys between 4 and 14%, it alsoused to contain (couldnt verify it now) that they used to use formaldhyde as a preservitive in it. After drinking it and losing hours and doing bad things i think it still might
phil bowers

Thailand in a bottle Chang is smooth, refreshing reminds us of sitting in the RIM HAAD restaurant Cha Am watching the sea .Oh Thailand how we love you and miss you ,sawrdi krup /ka
Mike and Dawn Hedley

if you had tried this beer in thailand you would know that the label value is 8% but has been tested in kegs up to 14. also combined with thai heat gives the drinker a mighty changover. mmmmm formaldehyde
jon

This beer seems to need a split in the OBBD - my 330 ml bottle (in France), simply named "Chang Beer", was a typical standard pale lager at 5.0% ABV, and can’t possibly be "the same beer" as a 6.4% strong lager??!! Anyhow, my beer pours with a golden colour and a large head. "Neutral" lager flavour, not offensive, moderate sweetness. Okay with a spicy Thai meal. 4.5/10
Sigmund

Just noticed on http://www.foreignbeerimports that to celebrate the Thai New Year (I think it is in April), they are offering 2 free glasses with every case sold.
Paul Sage

anyone from singapore? chang is one of the cheapest beer, considering therez heavy taxation of alcohol imports. abt S$2++ per can. very affordable for students like myself. chang tastes better than carlsberg too. =)
hwee

BEWARE IN THE UK THIS BEER IS DIFFERENT TO THE LOCAL THAI PRODUCT!!!! THE ABV IN THE UK IS 5% IN THAILAND ITS 7%. DON'T GET CAUGHT OUT LIKE I DID!!!!
Gregory

Beer Chang is cheap and Nasty. It has to be sold cheap because its a low quality product. Thats why its not available in many outlets in the UK. Remember you get what you pay for! If you are after a quality Asain lager then try Tiger beer from Singapore or a Singha from Thailand...
Emma

In Thailand the beer chang has amphetimines in it, this may be why alot of you love it, same as the M150.
miniandmazif@hotmail.com

beer chang is good but im a fan of leo, the cheap stuff. once you have a taste for that you can really drink any beer...oh and tiger isnt really cheap but i like that too!
Numuzzle

Chang beer is the best thai beer and possibly the best beer altogether. It is 6.9% but tastes smooth and not too bitter. A crate of 20 500ml bottles will cost around 350baht, wich is about a fiver.
Daniel

Lots of strange comments about this beer. Bottled Chang beer in Thailand is 6.4% abv...as stated on the bottle. It most certainly does not contain amphetamines (as if they could do that at the price)and is usually 100 baht for 3 bottles in shops, as someone else said. Beer in Thailand is usually drunk with ice cubes because if not it would be warm within seconds.
Mark

Having recently returned from Thailand I have found Chang to be a somewhat understated beer. Coming in at 6.4% while tasting light and refreshing is always a winner!!
Mat

Remember Chang in Thailand is 6.4% but in the UK its only 5% ABV!!! I think the Chang in the UK is called Chang Light in Thailand and therefore is NOT the same product. So I guess in the UK we are being ripped off :(
Tom

YUK!!! very flat taste AVOID at all costs!!!
moo

I like it so much and even have bought some t-shirt back to NZ.It is the best beer in the world. I lived in Belgium and tried many beers there, but not that as good as Beer Chang
Justin

The elephant rules
malvachat

The cheapest price I have found for chang beer so far is at a website called wingyipstore.co.uk price per unit is £0.93p and a price for a crate of 24 is £26.82 including a delivery charge of £4.50 for 2-3 working days. You do have the option of next day delivery but costs more. If anyone finds it cheaper on-line please drop me a message at munro263_andy@hotmail.com or post.
Andy.

im a secret chang beer drinker, chang beer, chang beer!!!!!!!!
alesandro pistone

You can BUY beer chang at Wing Yip stores if ya got one around you. For those who live in north London theres also an oriental centre in Colindale which I have seen beer chang at.
Andy B

chang is fantastic taste
lilly

I live in BKK and can 100% say that the original gold label Chang beer is 6.4% alc. Recently however they have added Chang Light at 4%alc and yesterday I tried a bottle of Chang Draught at 5%alc.I must say I think the new 'draught',even though it is not as strong as the original Chang is far smoother and more refreshing. Hopefully all of you will be fortunate enough to sample all the range and make up your own minds but I think you would all agree Chang beer is pretty good!
Andy Thorpe

best drunk in thailand, and dream when you get home
ricky, stranraer

Rocket Fuel in a bottle! Just back from thailand where it is 6.4%, the export for uk market is 5%. You can buy 24 bottles in 'costgo' cash and carry for around £20 in scotland! FEER NO BEER!
Crazy Carson

Lovely beer and used to buy the 6.4% stuff from thai4uk.co.uk untill recently they changed like everyone else to the UK 5% version... is there anywhere left to get the Proper version in the UK
David Callen

David, i agree the old 6.4% was nice, but the new 5% version is just not the same. I think I will stick to Singha or Tiger from my local Tesco or Sainsbury's.
peter Sunner

an absolutley beautifull beer just like the country its from,i managed to get some in china town in leeds but not by the crate unfortuantly.
schaff

I bought my first bottles of Chang beer yesterday in Birmingham - from that great Asian supermarket Wing Yip (they can be contacted on the internet too) A superb refreshing light beer that goes well with the Asian meals that I cook - next time I go there I'll buy a decent supply. I get all my Thai and Chinese sauces there too.
Tony A

The 5% beer is dissapointing, only drink the original 7% stuff.
Bob

Chang Draught is now being bottled in Thailand. Unlike the other chang taste, this 1 is differently labeled and delivers with a soft touch of elegance largely credited to the smoothness and yet strong taste. Next time you guys hit a 7-11 or sth in Bangkok, grab a 'Chang Draught'.
Satisfaction Guranteed, TH

There is nothing better than a Chilly Chang in Ko Phan Ngan. Myself and my mate Cruisey are thinking of starting a Chang appreciation Club in London. Let me know if there is interest. Chang Chang Chang!
Kris

Chang, Chang Chilly Chilly Chilly Chang Chang we love you!

hi! just come back form Thailand yesterday and its actually 6.4% However if imported or bought in uk its only 5% you can get it form Winyip.co.uk superstore birmingham or manchester, surrey or from foreignbeerimports, onlyfinebeer.co.uk or Thai4uk.com and other selected beer sites along with sang som and singha which is sold in some sainsburys, anyone know where to get the redbul or m150 from?
Stacie Deans

I have tried this beer in thailand and it is alot stronger than 5% it is more like 8/9 %
Tiffany

BEST BEER IN THE WORLD, JUST THINKING ABOUT IT BRINGS BACK SOO MANY DRUNKEN MEMORIES IN THALAND ON ME GAP YEAR. WILL, 19
WILL

very nice, good old everton fans cant go wrong with this beer!!!
colin

A CREDIT TO ALL EVERTONIANS ALL OVER THE WORLD HIC!!!
COLIN

Beer Chang is f-cking horrible stuff. I live in Thailand and won't touch the stuff. I doubt you guys get the same version we get here (which means you're lucky).
Matt

Nasty. The 5% version is RUBBISH!!!
Molly

There are three reasons I dont drink Beer Chang:
1) Tiger beer
2) Singha Beer
3) Its CRAP!
Brandy

Locally brewed and drunk Chang ( bought at beer halls and bars throughout Thailand ) starts at 7% and can be anywhere up to 13% ( there is no quality control ) but the eport lager ( 2006 ) does have quality control and must be 5%. Is a nice beer but depending on the batch you get it can be pleasent one night, and smack you round the next.
Euan SC Slight

Chang is a great beer, perfect with Thai Food.
Scott

Chang is made by Thai Beverage Plc., the same company that makes Mekhong, Sangsom and other Thai liquor. It has 6.4% alcohol content in Thailand and 5% when exported, but otherwise the brewing process is the same. It contains no chemical additives, no formalin or formaldehyde, and this is why you should always check the best by date first. It lasts only 6 months on the shelf. One brewmaster told me that the reason foreigners get a headache after drinking it is that they drink too much without realising it is potent - certainly not because of any additives. It is sold through speciality dealers in Australia, Belgium, Bhutan, Cambodia, Finland, France, hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switerland, Taiwan, the UK and Vietnam. In the UK, it is sold on draft at the Everton FC ground and in bottles at several pubs in the area. It takes a month to ship from Thailand to the UK, which is another reason to check the date on the label if you buy bottles. By far the purest beer available in Thailand, the brewer is the only one in Thailand with 12 German-trained brewmasters (most Thai brewers do not). The company came out with two new beers in 2006 aimed more at the drinkers who prefer lighter beers, Chang Light (4.2% alcohol) and Chang Draft in bottles (5%). Thai Beverage also makes Archa (Horse), beer (5.4%), which is found in supermarkets.
Richard, Bangkok

I had a dream last night that I was holding tight a frosty bottle of Chang.
Krissy

drink chang think everton come on
daz

This stuff kicks almost all western beers into touch, super strong, super clean and great tasting- and no hang over so no crap in it!
alssnakeeyes

Richard, sounds like you are an employee of the mighty ThaiBev.
Jimmy Chu

yeah man chang is great it got pissed every night on the stuff and thats why im so well preserved...(coz of the formaldehyde !!! He! He! He!
peter king

chang is very good than singha
anna

Holy crap...I've been to thailand and discovered the Chang Beer....ITS THE BEST DAMN BEER I'VE EVER TASTED...best nights of my life and all of my buddies agree....where can I find some...I want some desperately
MArc

Chang (elephant in Thai) is a cheep copy of the old Carlsberg elephant beer. Now the ABV has been reduced in the UK to 5% and it tastes different to the local Thai Brew. NASTY STUFF!
beer chimp

I wanna try it so bad, please help me in a quest to try Chang Beer! leaclark@hotmail.co.uk
Lea

Taste like water.
Ton

so many comments for such a poor beer! If you are after a South East Asian beer, there is a lot out there and Chang would be bottom of my list!! Try Tiger Beer or Singha Lager beer instead.
Gee

Chang, the best beer in the world.
matty

if u want chang beer, get an everton ticket.
mike smith

drink heineken you cheap losers, chang sucks
jon

Chang Beer was drunk in Thailand by poor working class people who can not afford a better beer. Chang Beer is the cheapest beer made from poor quality ingredient. You ask any Thai people if they like Chang beer. No one (Thai) wants to be seen drinking Chang beer. It's Leo Beer time now. Cheap but good taste!
Thai heavy drinker

cheap nasty beer. Not available anywhere in the UK cause its NASTY! Drink The original Thai beer Singha instead! Or a nice cold Heineken if you must.
stuart umgumi

LETS GET CHANG'D
sammy p

i had never heard of chang beer untill i went to thailand march 2007 and thats all i drank and it was lush better than all the beers they sell in uk i dont under stand why they dont sell it evey were over here i know they sell singha but it not the same the best bottle of chang i had in thailand was in koh samui lamai beach in an ozzy bar mate it was the coldest beer iv ever had and they went down 1 buy 1 i vote chang every time number 1 beer the best thailand rocks....
daniel waller

I LOVE CHANG..... Lived on it for two months in Thailand...Please someone sell it in England Withdrawel is setting in!!!!!
Eloise- Chang Fan

Sorry Thai heavy you are wrong,Archa is the cheap Thai beer in order of price 1 Singha, 2 Chang 3 Leo 4 Archa. I like all i have a week drinking one then the other except archa, i think thats how you spell it. In isaan you will about 35 baht large bottle of Singha and about 22 for Archa.
Denis

chang is not best Thai beer. For Thai people Singha is number 1 beer.
ching

Denis, look at the type of people who drink Chang in thailand, they tend to be the poorer working class. But brands like Leo, Singha and Hineken are drunk by the more fasionable or upper classes.
Nong

Chang beer in Thailand is 6.4% abv. The export version is actually Chang Draught, and is 5% abv. The company now has a UK marketing arm that lists the restaurants in the UK that sell Chang (see www.changbeer.com). There are lists of places in Hong Kong and Singapore that sell Chang available from ThaiBev (see www.thaibev.com for contacts) but if anyone lives in another country and wants to know where to buy locally, the PR department would probably be able to let you know. Again, find a contact on the website.
Richard

I tried a Chang at my local Thai last night and hated the stuff. For those who normally drink Singha and want to try a Chang, don't bother. Save your money and stick with a Singha.
Paul

why is it that chang beer is only 5% in england and yet over in thailand it is 6.4% and singha in thailand is 5% and over here its 6%
dan waller

Singha in the UK is now also 5%, I saw it in my local ASDA last night. But I have no idea why Chang is 6.4% in Thailand but only 5% here in the UK. I prefer the 6.4% stuff. The Chang 5% tastes like water. At least the 5% Singha still tastes the same as the old 6% Singha!
champ

Chang in the UK tastes like a watered down beer. Shame as in Thailand its an ok beer. my advise to anyone in the UK is stick to an ice cold Tiger or Singha.
Alicia

I have never experienced hangovers like the ones drinking Chang offers. I've heard it contains all manner of evil chemicals. Anyone know?
monkeycyst

Found my first Chang Beer (ie Chang Draught at 5%) in the Chard Town FC Social Club. Slightly less impressive ground than Everton's, but at around 40 miles a lot closer to my home in Dawlish! I'll always try a beer that's new to me once, but I certainly won't be repeating the exercise as far as this totally anonymous brew is concerned! Will keep a look out for the more authentic Thai version/strength though.
Trevor P.

According to your appraise for the beer I must have gotten a bad batch or I'm on a page of the most dissillusioned to taste people in existance. With my experience the aftertaste was most likely a result of a pissed off worker at the brewery urinating in the tanks over a number of weeks as a silent revenge against the company. Unfortunately the hideous taste has convinced me never to purchase this beer again.
Phil Excellente

I once purchased a carton of this beer because the helpful bottle-o man told me it was a swell drop. He lied, this is possibly one of the worst beers ever. I possibly lost 20% of my brain function from drinking it.
Dave

CHANG IS 6.4% NOT 5%
GREG

one word.... avoid
polo mc

Here in the UK we get the watered down 5% rubbish. NOT the 6.4% stuff.
greggers

I'm from Brisbane Australia, I tasted Chang in Bankao Thailand and have now found an inporter of it here in Brisbane. I know i will not be buying anything else from now on, I just hope they don't run out or decide to stop importing it.
Simon

Greg, I am sitting here at my computer with a bottle of Chang and it says on the label; (1.15 FL.OZ) 5%By Volume
Simon

I think if you buy Chang Beer in the UK it is 5% there's an official retailer selling beer and merchandise at www.changbeerstore.com and they state it as 5%
BYGino

It was a long time ago,I can't say as I really remember it, it was a bit bog standard.
Sally Willbond

THE WORST HANGOVERS EVER! This beer is so bad it should have a health warning. AVOID at all costs.
