The philosophy behind Oxford Bottled Beer Database linked beers

The idea of suggesting other beers of interest at the bottom of each review is threefold:

• to add to the ways of navigating around the site
• to promote connoisseurism
• to encourage all those people who search for bud or miller (etc.) to try something nice.

Therefore, when we review a beer, we try to think about:

• what beers of the same genre share similar characteristics
• what beers of a different genre share similar characteristics
• what beers of a totally different style altogether share one or two characteristics.

For this reason, many of the links are deliberately controversial, and we welcome criticism and suggestions as to what beers should be linked. And if your ideal link beer doesn't appear in the database, why not submit a review?
